Pooper Blooper

Grant was in the spelling bee this year at school. We were quizzing him on words in the morning and he was doing really well when he heard the words correctly. We coached him on being sure he heard the word correctly and told him he could ask to have the word used in a sentence. He said he was ready.

He made it through the first round with no problem spelling the word Friday correctly. The sixth graders he was competing against were milking every minute at the microphone having the word used in a sentence, asking for alternate pronunciations, language of origin and then writing and re-writing the word on the erasable board before spelling.

Grant steps up to the microphone for the second round and I hear the word pronounced by the judge "blooper" then I hear Grant say "Pooper, P-O-O-P-E-R, pooper and turn and walk towards his seat only to be told he was wrong. It was very funny and all I could not do to laugh, and say I told you to make sure you were spelling the right word, but all I could say is "Don't worry about it you just made a pooper blooper."

I guess I should stop saying "That is one nice pooper!"
