Halloween Carnival

Today, October 27, 2007 was Eldorado Elementary's Halloween Carnival and the following pictures are Eva and Grant's costumes. Eva is a philodendren, her idea, and Grant is the cartoon character, Diego, who is an animal rescuer. Grant admires him a lot! Eva's hair was sprayed green and Grant's was sprayed brown. I was really hoping it would wash out later as promised! (It did.) Eva received rave reviews and tons of compliments about her costume at the carnival. Grant's main desire was to win a cake at the cakewalk and Eva wanted to win a pet (stuffed animal) at the petwalk. Grant and I also went through the haunted house, at Grant's insistence, and they both played many other games. Eva also wanted to buy raffle tickets for a purple and pink Huffy bicycle. After two tries Grant's number was finally called at the cakewalk and he chose chocolate cookies with orange frosting, not even a cake! Eva did the petwalk six times before finally winning a stuffed animal. Right after that she came up to me, and was biting into one of Grant's cookies he was sharing and her loose tooth fell out on the floor. We were exclaiming over her good fortune in finding a little tiny white tooth on a white floor when the winner of the raffle was called and it was...Eva Canby!! I was more shocked than she was, I think. She turned right away and walked over to claim her prize. It was quite the exciting afternoon. I don't believe I have ever won a raffle. I never even buy the tickets anymore and I wouldn't have bought these either if she hadn't been asking me for a week to do so. We bought five tickets. And to add to the excitement of the day, it started out with meeting Granddaddy for breakfast at Harry's Roadhouse. The amount of stimulation today topped off by the amount of sugar consumed were enough to exhaust me. Eva and Grant were also very tired, I think!
